About Us

Welcome to Barn Girl Jewelry!

I am Sharon Bell, the founder and president. I started riding when I was three years old and haven’t stopped since. I ride and have shown hunters, was a whip for two hunts, groomed on the “A” circuit and for a polo barn, and managed a barn in Wellington on the winter show circuit.

I have owned many horses over the years but am currently horseless. I hope to remedy that situation soon!

In the non-horse world, I am a former sales and marketing executive.

Who else is on the Barn Girl team?

I have an amazing team of people who help make everything work smoothly. And, a host of horse friends who act as style advisors and offer suggestions on product selection.

Why is it called Barn Girl Jewelry?

In conversations with non-horse people, I often refer to my horse friends as “barn girlfriends”. We are thrown together by the places we board or ride our horses. We may not share much outside our barn activities, but we share a lot through our horses. When we change barns or even cities, we remain friends for years because of our shared connections forged through our love of – and time spent with – our horses and at our barns. Barn girls are not defined by age or riding ability. We have unique bonds and love our equestrian life.

How did you get started?

In 2006, I created a phrase book for the horse industry called “What’s Spanish for Whoa?” featuring phonetic translations to use when giving instructions to native Spanish speakers in the horse world. A farrier friend asked for a similar item and “Barn Spanish for Farriers” soon followed. In 2010, a family member suggested I put equestrian-themed jewelry on the web-site where I sold those products. I began the process of connecting with jewelry suppliers, designers, and artists and have been building the business ever since!

Where do you find your jewelry?

As most store owners, I look for items that reflect certain styles or looks that I like and hope will appeal to my customers. I buy all across the board from national and international brands to small workshops that feature the designs of one artist. I craft pieces that I envision but can’t find.

I strive to buy American-made whenever possible.

Where are you located?

The offices are in Nashville, TN but there is no showroom. For several years, I operated a mobile unit at hunter/jumper, dressage, pony club shows and other horse shows in the area. I also have set up trunk shows at selected tack shops.

Thanks for stopping by!
